Where the service charge you pay in hotels & restaurants goes to???

You are having your meal in a nice restaurant in the region…bill comes and you notice they added automatically the service charge, which is not new, we are used to pay it without hesitation as we receive a good, or not so good service… but at the end you think, well life is expensive and waiter will get little help with my tip…hmmmm really??????????? Well.. not exactly….
